On Thursday night, I went and shot A Wilhelm Scream at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood. It is a small place and very dark. I have wanted to try the Tokina 11-16 2.8, but Samy’s didn’t have one available. So I went with the Nikon 14-24 2.8 instead of my usual 12-24 f4 rental. The lens is a beast at around 3 lbs. I found that it was very slow to focus and I ended up missing the shots I wanted. It stayed in its bag on my belt most of the night.

I went and saw The Black Dahlia Murder and Cannibal Corpse last night. It was great seeing Brian and John play since I graduated high school with Brian and was in cub scouts with John and hadn’t seen either for a long time. BDM had the best audience participation out of all four bands that played.
It was really funny watching Cannibal Corpse. They have been around forever. They come out on stage and scream, thrash, head bang their long hair around. The singer screamed for a good hour and twenty minutes. After the show I went backstage with Brian and met all the guys. You would expect that the lead singer for CC, who has been screaming for 20 years, would have a really scratchy voice, but not so. His voice was a lot higher than I imagined and very smooth.
